Call for Writing Activities Across the Disciplines
UNL´s Faculty Leadership for Writing Initiate (FLWI), a program designed to enhance writing instruction across institutional levels, invites K-12 teachers to submit writing activities to share with colleagues. In particular, we are interested in assignments from a wide range of disciplines that do one or more of the following:
- Allow students ownership of their writing
- Invite students to think about audience and purpose
- Demonstrate a connection to state standards
- Connect students with curriculum in a meaningful way
- Promote writing as a process, including drafting, peer response, and revision
- Use multi-media or alternative forms like websites, magazines, video, etc.
These activities will be published on the University of Nebraska Lincoln´s FLWI (Faculty Leadership for Writing Initiative) website and linked to the Nebraska Department of Education site. This collection aims to showcase a variety of writing plans that both meet state writing standards and inspire other teachers to incorporate writing into their curricula.
